A Few Things About Your First Visit

So, you’re thinking about scheduling a massage but have a few questions before you do?  Basically, everything you need to know as far as how to prepare for your massage can be summed up into before and after:

Before:

If it's your first visit, try to arrive 5-15 minutes early to allow time for the small amount of paperwork that's needed, as well as time for a pre-massage consultation, and disrobing/getting onto the table.

After:

Because massage has such a stimulating effect on the body's lymphatic (cleansing) system, it is very detoxifying.  As a result, some side-effects similar to a common cold are possible although not necessarily a given.  For this reason, it is very important to drink plenty of water for the next day or so to get everything flushed out.

Must I Completely Undress and Other FAQ:

Must I completely undress?  Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.  I will leave the massage area while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet in complete privacy.

Will I be covered during the session?  You will be properly covered (draped) at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.  Modestly draping will only expose the area being worked on.

What part of my body will be massaged?  We will discuss the desired outcome of your session.  This will determine which parts of the body require therapy.  A typical full body session will include the muscles of the back, legs, arms, and neck.

What will the massage feel like?  Your session may start with broad flowing strokes which will help to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension.  As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve muscular tension.  You should immediately communicate any discomfort to the therapist so that another approach may be taken.   Massage is most effective when your body is not resisting.

How often should I receive a massage?  Once a week is most therapeutic, however, it must fit within your budget.

What should I do during the massage?  RELAX & ENJOY!!!!!!

Should I tip the therapist?  Generally all service industries are tipped.  For example waiters, hair stylist, valet etc.  So if you enjoy your service, tipping is an expression of appreciation.

Referral Program:

Sometimes it's not enough just to say thank you; sometimes it's necessary to give something back as well, and that's why I created a referral program:

On the Client Information Form that everyone fills out prior to their first session, there is a line that asks, "Were you referred to this office?  By Whom?"  For every new client that fills in your name after "By Whom?" you will receive 50% off your next massage.  Or if you would prefer to save them up and use two at a time to get an absolutely free massage, that's cool too!

It's just that simple, referring new clients helps me out, solves your friends' and family members' problem of finding a good, reputable therapist, and stocks you up with free massages!  Everybody wins!
